PlanetSorb is our proprietary bio-material, a direct replacement for plastic superabsorbent polymers (SAP), which is 100%
bio-based, biodegradable and microplastics-free.

PlanetSorb at a glance

PlanetSorbΤΜ: The 100% Biodegradable SAP

Super Absorbent Polymers (SAPs) can absorb and retain liquids up to multiple times their weight. However, traditional SAPs are petroleum-based, non-biodegradable, and take over 100 years to decompose, contributing significantly to product-related waste. They also contain harmful materials, making them non-bio-compatible and unsuitable for direct skin contact in hygiene products, raising both environmental and health concerns.

Our breakthrough polymers are not only home compostable but also crafted from renewable resources, helping hygiene brands meet today’s environmental standards without sacrificing quality.

Unmatched performance.
No trade-offs.

Up to 350x

Free Swell Capacity

Total liquid a SAP can absorb and retain without any external pressure applied, reflecting its ability to swell freely when immersed.

Industry grade

Centrifuge retention capacity

CRC measures the amount of liquid a SAP can retain after being subjected to high-speed centrifugation to simulate the stress SAPs experience in actual usage.

High

Absorption Under Load

Ability to absorb liquid while under pressure, simulating real-world conditions like maintaining absorbency even when compressed by the weight of the baby.

How is PlanetSorb different? Our polymer stands out because of its combination of performance and biodegradability.

Home
compostable

PlanetSorb is designed to be home compostable without breaking down into microplastics. It degrades in uncontrolled environmental conditions within 180 days at room temperature.

Fast
absorption

Engineered to meet commercial-grade performance standards, PlanetSorb undergoes rigorous lab testing in collaboration with industry partners to prove performance reliability under real-world conditions.

Innovating even further

Accelerating biodegradation in every layer

Speeds up the biodegradation process of the SAP & other surrounding materials, making the whole product fully biodegradable.

Hear from our customers

We have been working for 25 years to come up with new solutions and proposals to make the largest part of the diaper, the superabsorbent polymer, biodegradable. If you make it, we’ll buy it.

Since our volumes are relatively low, we can and will switch to alternative suppliers if they offer an innovation that we can’t get anywhere else… one supplier used a biobased SAP from (a competitor’s product), but it was too expensive and didn’t perform well

Catherine
Chief Innovation Officer of sustainable nappy brand

Our last missing piece is a biodegradable SAP, especially after we were disappointed with (a competitor’s product)… We own our production so running a pilot is seamless

COO of a menstrual pad manufacturer
